the fireworks

Since Quebec I've been so v. disappointed in myself - my job hunt & my get in shape plan. I've had a brilliant lack of oomph. I think I'm in a post-grad school existential haze. At least i got to see sweet Ashley this week when we went to the midnight Eclipse premiere (ridiculously silly & fun). To redeem my(fangirl)self I will be working at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival in a couple weeks. Always immensely impressive & inspiring. Other goodness - new IT Crowd episodes started too!!!

All-in-all I made some great outreach connections for the museum this week...but, it's hard to stay positive when I'm not there full-time. Oh well. Grrrr!

Since I have a (rare) day off with my man tomorrow, I will leave my worries at the door and do the following:

Sleep in!
Go to the movies!
Indulge in sweet summer fruit & other delights!
& catch up on my film blog

the truth.

this weekend i re-watched movies by lubitsch, kubrick, meadows & lynch. i am so lucky to know these artist's work and to have made them integral to my life. i am NOT an artist...and i sometimes fancy that i am all about music or craft or academia...but the truth is, i am a film lover. it is NOT a cool thing to be. most of my friends have a talent or a profession, but i...i watch moving images. and honestly, those two words probably summarize me better than any other 2 words can ♥

i live in a time warp

the lovely bones

I'm obsessed with movies set in the 7os. I know, in reality, the 70s were a pretty creepy, dark time historically speaking - but societally some amazing, beautiful things were happening

virgin suicides

slums of beverly hills

the ice storm

dick

dazed & confused

....just to name a few ♥

I'm definitely starting to be obsessed with movies set in the 80s too (Adventureland, 200 Cigarettes, Wet Hot American Summer, Adventures of Sebastian Cole, Son of Rambow, The Squid and the Whale - but its not as acute (yet).
